Our hands knead dough, type out emails, tend our gardens, comfort loved ones – they’re always doing. And what about our nails? We slap on some questionable polish, maybe clip them when they get too long, but do we really care for them?
Just like the rest of us, our nails thrive when we treat them kindly and keep things natural. Think about it – our bodies are smart. They recognize and respond best to what’s real, what comes from the earth. Why would our nails be any different? All those harsh chemicals in conventional nail stuff? Nope, not my cup of tea. There’s a better way to keep your nails happy and healthy without all that toxic junk.
Natural Nail TLC:
Keeping your nails in tip-top shape naturally is being mindful and consistent with a few simple habits:
- Wash Wisely: Ditch those aggressive, drying soaps. Opt for something mild and natural that won’t strip your hands and nails of their precious oils. Think simple, plant-based cleansers. I buy mine from a local maker because I “buy small” whenever I can.
- Quench That Thirst: Hydration isn’t just for our insides! Our nails and cuticles get thirsty too. When they’re dry, they get brittle and break. Slather on some natural oils or butters regularly to keep them supple and strong.
- File with Finesse: When you need to shape those beauties, grab a fine-grit file and move in one direction. Sawing back and forth? No, no, no. Be gentle!
- Shield Your Hands: When facing a tough job – think soaking in water for ages or wrestling with harsh cleaning products – give them some armor! Gloves are your best friend here.
- Feed ‘Em Right: Just like that old saying goes, you are what you eat. Healthy nails start from within. Make sure you’re getting your fill of good fats, vitamins, and minerals. I put flaxseed on my salads and eat 2 ounce portions of salmon 3x a week.
Honestly, Mother Nature has gifted us with everything we need to thrive, and that includes nail care! Think about the richness of plant-based oils, packed with the good stuff that soaks right in and nourishes. And then there are essential oils – these concentrated plant essences that can offer a real boost.
(My Gentle Nudge)
Now, speaking of giving your nails a little extra love from nature… You know I’m all about harnessing the power of plants, right? That’s why I came up with our Nail Food serum. It’s a simple blend, featuring small-batch distilled tea tree, lemon, and lavender essential oils swirled into pure, cold-pressed argan oil. Just a tiny drop massaged in morning and evening makes a world of difference.
- Tea tree essential oil keeps things clean and healthy-looking.
- A little lemon essential oil can help lessen discoloration and smells wonderfully fresh.
- Lavender essential oil supports healthy nail growth.
- Then there’s that beautiful argan oil, soaking in with all its vitamin E and fatty acids to really moisturize and help mend any damage.
If you’re looking to treat your nails the natural way, you can find our Nail Food waiting for you in the shop.
Taking care of your nails naturally is about being kind to yourself and embracing the simple, effective solutions that the earth provides. It’s about ditching the harsh stuff and choosing nourishment instead. Your hands work hard for you – let’s give those nails the natural love they deserve.
